<media:description>Are your pink poly ESD bags actually protecting your electronics? We ordered five pink poly antistatic bags online and tested them in the quality control lab at Cortec® Advanced Films. Only one passed ANSI/ESD STM11.11 requirements of less than 1x10^11 ohms on the outside. In contrast, Cortec® VpCI®-125 HP Permanent ESD bags tested up to 60 times better than the requirement. They also offer corrosion protection and come in four convenient stock sizes. <media:description>Molins Construction Solutions presents a concrete repair project on a reinforced concrete high-rise in Ferrol, Spain, showcasing the use of Migrating Corrosion Inhibitors (MCI®) to extend service life in a harsh coastal environment.

Located near an estuary, the apartment building had suffered years of deterioration due to corrosion from shallow concrete cover, though its load-bearing capacity remained intact. In 2025, Molins incorporated MCI® technology into repair mortars to protect embedded steel reinforcement, improve durability, and preserve a local landmark.

This video highlights modern corrosion protection strategies for coastal concrete structures, high-rise rehabilitation, and long-term infrastructure performance. Log in to read the accompanying Case History #866 at http://www.corteccasehistories.com/.

This quick tutorial walks you through how to properly mix and apply MCI®-2018 V/O (www.cortecmci.com/product/mci-2018-mci-2018-vo), a thicker version of MCI®-2018 designed for vertical or overhead applications.
Because this material can settle in the container, proper mixing is essential to achieve the right consistency and ensure full protection. Learn how to use a drill with a squirrel-cage mixer to restore a smooth, even texture in just 2–4 minutes.

<media:description>This demo shows how to prepare remanufactured metal parts for corrosion-free shipment. It is imperative to make sure each part is clean and rust-free before packaging (click here for a full rust removal demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvPDfqiHgjk). Once the parts are clean and dry, they can be placed into a box lined with VpCI®-126 film. An additional source of VpCI® such as BioPad® can be added to boost the amount of corrosion inhibiting chemistry inside the package. The bag should be closed and secured to trap the VpCI® inside the package and ensure protection during shipment.

<media:description>This demo shows how to remove rust with a simple setup that anyone can duplicate. Simply set up three tubs: one for a solution of VpCI®-422, one for rinse water, and one for a solution VpCI®-414 (or another VpCI®-41x Series cleaner). Make sure the metal is free of grease or rust preventatives. Brush the loose rust off your part and immerse it in the solution of VpCI®-422. Check rust removal progress periodically. When the degree of rust removal is satisfactory, rinse the part in water, then in a solution of VpCI®-414 to neutralize the part and prevent flash rust.
In this demo, VpCI®-422 was used at a 20% concentration (diluted 1:4 with water), and VpCI®-414 was used at a 5% concentration (diluted 1:19 with water). The part was only partially immersed to show the contrast before and after rust removal. Often, the same rust removal solution can be reused many times to clean hundreds of parts!

<media:description>This time-lapse shows what happens when a rusty panel is immersed in a solution of VpCI®-426 rust remover. The rust gradually loosens and falls off the panel to the bottom of the jar, leaving behind a clean surface on the portion of the metal in contact with Cortec® VpCI®-426.

In everyday use, the speed of rust removal depends on a variety of factors including the severity of rust and the concentration and temperature of the rust removal solution. In this demo, VpCI®-426 was used at full strength and was able to remove rust in one hour from a metal panel that had rusted overnight in a salt spray chamber.

Neutralizing the metal with a VpCI®-41x Series cleaner is typically recommended after rust removal. Contact Cortec® to learn more!

<media:description>Workers applied MCI®-2018 while rappelling down the massive piers of the new Pelješac Bridge in 2021. Located in an arm of the Adriatic Sea, the new bridge connects two parts of Croatia previously separated by a border crossing.

The goal of achieving a 130-year design life on this dynamic piece of infrastructure in a harsh saltwater environment has prompted a multi-faceted campaign to slow corrosion through a combination of AC coatings, cathodic protection (CP), thick concrete cover, and impregnation of the concrete substructure with MCI®-2018, a 100% silane water repellent that contains Migrating Corrosion Inhibitors for dual protection.

<media:description>PAC Machinery, in conjunction with Audion, implemented this box recycling solution for a major tool distribution center in the U.S. The equipment chops up used cardboard boxes and funnels the material into new form, fill, and seal bags made out of Cortec’s recyclable EcoShield® Heat Sealable Paper. The resulting dunnage bags are a great replacement for standard kraft packaging fill paper that costs considerably more due to the volume needed! Savings aside, it’s also a great “circular economy” initiative!

<media:description>MCI® Mini Grenades are conveniently packaged for easy onsite addition to concrete repair mortars. The water-soluble grenade pouch dissolves easily when in contact with water in the concrete mix. During mixing, the bag will completely dissolve, and Migrating Corrosion Inhibitors will begin to disperse into the mix. One MCI® Mini Grenade protects 0.5 ft³ (0.015 m³). This demo shows an up-close, accelerated look at a grenade as it starts to dissolve and release MCI® admixture in a jar of water.</media:description>

<media:description>This demo video shows how to apply CorrVerter® MCI® Rust Primer to rusty rebar, as when doing concrete repairs. The water-based coating goes on white and turns dark brown or black as it dries and cures. CorrVerter® MCI® passivates existing surface rust and protects against re-rusting, providing a labor-saving alternative to sandblasting for rusty rebar surface prep.</media:description>

<media:description>How do you know when your base coat has cured enough to recoat? If you’re pressed on time, a solvent rub is a quick way to see if your coating has cured and is ready to go. Cortec’s Technical Sales Manager does a solvent rub demo on VpCI®-395 and shows how easy this is.

Keywords: coating cure time, recoat time, solvent rub test, coating cure test, how to check if a coating has cured, how to know if base coat is cured.</media:description>
